Dinner @ Ormeggio at the Spit, Mosman

Described by Delicious magazine as a restaurant that's, "...infused with the soul of southern Italy," Ormeggio continues to be one of Sydney's most sought-after dining destinations.

Taking over the restaurant in 2009, Alessandro Pavoni has spent the last decade creating beautiful dishes that pay homage to Italy's culture and cuisine.

Alessandro Pavoni

Pavoni's culinary journey began in Brescia, Italy, where he trained alongside renowned chefs Iginio Massari and Giuseppe Maffioli at Carlo Magno.

He further honed his skills in Michelin-starred venues such as La Rotonde in France and Villa Fiordaliso on Lake Garda. After contributing his talents to Bermuda's Restaurant Lido, he permanently settled in Sydney in 2003.

In 2005, he assumed the role of Executive Chef at the Park Hyatt, managing a team of over 30 chefs. Fulfilling his dream, Pavoni established Ormeggio at The Spit in 2009, earning national acclaim and a spot on MasterChef Australia. In 2014, he expanded his culinary portfolio with Chiosco by Ormeggio, evoking Italian coastal summers.

2020 saw Pavoni open A'Mare (Italian for 'at the seas') at Crown Sydney. Complementing the ethos of Ormeggio and Chiosco, A'Mare keeps Italian influences at its heart but focuses on creating classic regional dishes that showcase beautiful local seafood.

Our Inspiration

COOK2CURE is dedicated to Sienna Hoffmann, a special little girl who is the inspiration behind the charity Neuroblastoma Australia.

Sienna was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was just nine months old and endured relentless treatments. After 10 months Sienna was in remission, but sadly the cancer returned just after she turned two years old. There is currently no cure for relapsed neuroblastoma.

Tragically Sienna passed away when she was just two and a half years old. Too many young children lose their lives to this disease – their future and the expected future of an entire family is suddenly cruelly destroyed. The only way to find answers to this disease is through research and funding.
