One in two children with aggressive neuroblastoma will not survive

Neuroblastoma is a complex and aggressive cancer affecting young children. The average age of diagnosis is just two years old and it is the leading cause of cancer death of children under five.

Only 50% of those children diagnosed with aggressive neuroblastoma will survive five years after diagnosis – and a third of those children that do survive will have long term side effects from their treatments.

Neuroblastoma has a devastating impact on families across Australia; you can read some of their stories here.

Your help can change lives

Research into this disease receives minimal support, with very little funding coming from either government sources or pharmaceutical companies. To put it into perspective, all childhood cancers combined account for only 10% of the government’s overall cancer research budget.

Because treatment options are designed primarily for adults, they can be extremely harsh on young bodies. Even when children survive neuroblastoma, the lasting side effects of treatment can be severe — including infertility, hearing or vision loss, and an increased likelihood of developing secondary cancers later in life.

We need your help to find effective treatments.

Donate today

We are the only charity in Australia with a 100% focus on neuroblastoma.

Your donation will support world class Australian research into developing less toxic, more effective treatments, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure.

Every two years Neuroblastoma Australia holds a research grants round where scientists from all over Australia propose new research projects. Funding these projects provides essential support so good ideas can evolve and progress through the various research stages needed.
