The Communication and Media Branch at DAFF is raising funds to support neuroblastoma research. We're holding a bake sale on Thursday 26 June, from 10:30am, or you can donate online.

Neuroblastoma is a rare childhood cancer with about 40 children diagnosed with neuroblastoma each year in Australia. Astoundingly neuroblastoma takes the lives of more children under five than any other cancer.

Our colleague Tom Buckland’s son Harry, just 4 years old, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma late last year. He is currently undergoing treatment in Sydney.

Harry’s treatment has included rounds of intensive chemotherapy, a major tumour resection surgery and now two rounds of tandem bone marrow transplants. The side effects of these treatments can be severe. For Harry, it has resulted in reduced kidney function and hearing loss. Despite everything, Harry continues to approach treatment with courage and understanding well beyond his years.

Neuroblastoma Australia is raising vital funds for research into the development of better, safer treatments for children diagnosed with neuroblastoma now and in the future. This includes treatments to reduce the chance of relapse.

Come and treat yourself to some delicious home-baked goods or you can donate online through this page.

Your contribution will help fund vital research and show support for Tom, Harry and all families affected by Neuroblastoma. Caroline Lanzon
